Friendships and relationships are complicated. We make friends over the course of many decades only to remain close to a few, as life goes on. This is true for most of us. Some of us are lucky we still have childhood friends that we have had since fourth grade, but it is certainly not the norm. Most of us have made friends dependent on what we are doing in our life, what job we have and whether we have kids and are in contact with our children’s parents.
So, as I was writing this and going through my database as I prep to start writing for this website and developing a newsletter, I started to think about all the people I have met through the years and wondering if they will remember me? This is quite ironic because a few years back, I met up with my old roommate from when we were in our mid-twenties, and she took me to a party for a retiring co-worker who sold media time with us. He was a mentor to me, very successful and was my first coach to me when I was selling time at a prominent radio station.
I was so excited to see him after decades had passed and to wish him well. What I never counted on was the reality, he didn’t remember me. He had no clue of who I was. I thought I was important, but evidently, I was not important to him. But for me, he would someone I always remembered.
As I go through my database of people, I think may be interested in receiving my newsletter and sorting through all the names of the people in my life, many I don’t remember who they are anymore and others who are new friends, I am thinking about, “how do we maintain relationships?” And in a world of technology and all the social media, who of all those people are our real friends? And who do we really want to have in our lives?
So welcome to my newsletter, Life Is one Big To-Do List which is based on my original book, of the same name, I wrote years ago. If you received this in your inbox, you are someone I remember and are on my handpicked list. I am hoping you will enjoy as you may have in the past, my writings.
I appreciate your support and hope you will stay with my correspondence, but if you find it is not something that resonates with you, I certainly will not be offended if you cancel the subscription. Right now, it’s free, so enjoy it and thank you for your support. It’s great to connect with you!
